On July 6th, 2016, the Tennessee State Attorney General issued an opinion that traffic camera companies would violate the state law by letting their employees prescreen the traffic camera footage. Prescreening the footage before sending to an agency for review is one of the selling points the traffic camera companies employ to sell the systems to agencies.

Evidently the pockets of these corrupt politicians are always open for a handout. On August 22, 2016 the State AG revised his opinion. It is the opinion of this author that pre-screening the videos by a contractor does violate the law as the contractor is clearly determining if a violation may have occurred and only sending those videos that they believe contain a violation to authorized law enforcement officers for review. If the contractor was submitting ALL VIDEOS for officer review then the legality might be legitimate.
